The Thanh Hoa Fund for Poor Women is committed to making a real and lasting positive change in the communities and families with which it works. For the program's fifth anniversary in 2013, an assessment of the program's impact was conducted by the consulting firm Flanet Finance. They found that Fund was having a substantial effect in alleviating poverty, improving the social status of women, enabling poor families to spend more on education and healthcare, and expanding access to credit and financial services.

A. Poverty Targeting and Monitoring

Poverty Line definition

Criteria for the poor household follows the Asia Pacific standard: Poor household and low income household have the demand to borrow with maximum loan amount less than US$300.

Poverty assessment/ measurement

Based on the loan amount

Poverty tracking

Client’s social and economic status, loan assessment, loan application form.

Main indicators is tracked: loan requirement, job, income, current loan outstanding, area of house, right of using land, quality of house, assets.

Social performance reporting

Yearly. Sending report to board, investors, women’s union in provincial, district and communal levels

C. Non-Financial Services

Social responsibility activities

Following goal and mission of poverty reduction, maintaining relevant loan and approaching method to targeting clients

Financial literacy program

Organising more than 30 training courses on non financial education for more than 1,300 poor households at coastal area of Hoang Hoa District and poor households at rural area of Dong Son District.

Other activities

Consulting on using loan; Training on gender equality, hygienic environment, market linkage, farming technique, health and epidemic prevention, etc.
